We had Miami on our mind and recently fulfilled the fix! Miami is a place one can return to over and over, at different points in their life and it will continue to embrace you accordingly. What an individual seeks out in their 20’s might look very different in their 40’s but one thing is for sure, we all go to Miami to feel youthful! Having stayed at many properties over the past several decades, our recent stay at The Standard Miami Beach ranks at the top.

Even though we are all on a never-ending search for the fountain of youth, this tucked away hotel is adults only. It’s sexy vibe and isolated and resort-like feel allows guests to experience the peace and tranquility of south Florida within minutes of Miami’s thriving nightlife. Upon entering The Standard Miami Beach, you are invited to address your inner child spirit with a game of ping pong. For a quick pick me up, grab a java and cold-pressed juice, bowl or smoothie at Café Standard, then head out the back doors and prepare to be stunned by the greenery and secret nooks with swings and hammocks strewn about.

One could most definitely stay on property for their entire stay with every need within reach. From their top-notch gym to their moody indoor bar/lounge with weekly music sessions, you will seldom find yourself bored. Their onsite shop is filled with up-and-coming brands to peruse and their daily yoga classes and stunning spa will invite you to bask in delight further. And with several dining options to choose from, whether it be lite bites during happy hour at Belle, a seafood tower during dinner service at Lido or Japanese at their weekly sushi pop-up evenings, rest assured your palette will be satisfied. During the day, cocktails, refreshments, and fare are offered poolside, if you so desire. All this being said, the bustling South Beach and downtown areas are just a bike ride away.

As for the rooms, structured in a motel-like fashion, yet more luxe, many offer private terraces. Some even showcase outdoor tubs, serving up atmospheric bliss! Ooh la la! The interior of the rooms are clean and minimal with cheeky innuendos that whisper this is a place to fully unwind. The minibar is stocked with novel items to fulfill all your wants and needs from food and drink to other pleasure-inducing products.

From a sustainability point of view, several initiatives have been implemented on-site, including the curated selection of items sold in the minibar. Aluminum water bottles are provided in room with refill stations throughout the property. Forget yours? No worries… paper cups are on hand accordingly. The toiletries provided ensuite are plastic neutral with staff refilling on a need basis. The bathrooms are on the smaller side with limited shelf space and awkward les toilettes, but other than these overlooked aspects, the pros far outweigh the cons. Considering the time spent in this particular space is typically minimal, it shouldn’t prove overly bothersome. Although the full mirrored showers may prove otherwise. Speaking of plumbing… over the past couple of years most fixtures have been replaced with sensors to further their eco-conscious efforts. Additionally, all lighting throughout is LED and though most of their products come from Europe, having stricter EU regulations, they are always working to find new products, produced locally, to reduce their footprint. The property actively works to reuse wherever possible before passing to waste and consistently strives to find new ways to practice eco-friendly initiatives as they move forward to improve the property.
