Click and Grow

Brand Feature

The Click and Grow Garden is a hydroponic garden designed to grow fruits, herbs, and vegetables indoors. Having a garden at home eliminates the need to purchase produce from your grocer or farmer’s market. This will aid in cutting down on unnecessary plastic packaging and food waste. You simply cut what you need when you need it. Click and Grow was designed with ease in mind. The garden has a time that turns on automatically and really the only maintenance required is to refill the unit when the lever indicates water levels are low. The brand offers a variety of plantings from tomatoes to chives and a host of others. For small spaces the counter size Smart Garden 9 is ideal and will give you the option to plant multiple herbs. For larger vegetables and fruits we suggest one of their wall units. We tried lettuce in the counter unit and its was great, but you can really only get 2 servings of lettuce out of a unit.

Having an indoor garden is not only beneficial for having peak produce to eat, having plants indoors is said to improve air quality and reduce stress.

Halo Dish Covers

Brand Feature

It’s rare for me to come across a product I love and can’t live without. This is the case with Halo Covers. Halo Covers are dish covers created to help reduce single use plastic and aluminum foil waste. They are superb quality, made of 100% GOTS certified organic cotton and elastic. They are machine washable and microwave safe.

I discovered the brand while living in Toronto. After trying a number of other environmentally friendly solutions, including beeswax wraps, these are an ideal option for all leftovers, pre-cut fruits and veg and make ahead meals.

The only time they prove challenging to use is on overloaded bowls, where food is moist. For example, placed on an overflowing dish of spaghetti and meatballs, will not prove to be the best option. Even in this case they will work, simply cover with parchment paper first and then layer with the cover. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes with an adjustable elastic on the outer rim for ideal fit.

Halo Covers are a kitchen must! A perfect hosting gift throughout the year or as a stocking stuffer for the upcoming holidays.
