Check… Deck Reno Complete
I can finally say one area of our home is complete! The deck renovation is done with the exception of a few small furnishing aesthetics. Those elements take time and I refuse to rush it. Renovations are time consuming indeed, especially when doing them sustainably. They say when working on your home, double the time and the money! To do things sustainably, I suggest tripling the time, and as for the money, it all depends. Many people avoid sustainable living because it’s associated with greater expense. This is often not the case. Let me explain… We may have spent more using cedar decking(one of the greenest building materials available), but we saved opting to use remnants for our counters that we sourced from a local stone yard. In the end, it all evened out and we got the most sustainable outcome. As for furnishing the deck, we are building our dream outdoor space around the two sustainable chaise lounges we had. We looked long and hard for a white aluminum table to match. We wound up finding one on Facebook Marketplace. It was brand new and we got it for 75 percent less. We are still searching for chairs to match, opting to use existing chairs we had until we find ones that are both sustainable and aesthetically pleasing. This is where time comes in. We are also looking for our dream outdoor couch and an end and coffee table. We will keep you posted as we continue our sustainable journey.
